one part of me says, "but why is it so shameful that we're spending so many billions on christmas? it's money spent on others, and time spend considering what another person would enjoy. isn't that a good thing?"
of course i also think, "then again.. i do get some people gifts that they probably won't use much, just because i couldn't figure out what to get them, or because i didn't have enough money to get what i knew they really wanted." and that part of it all does bother me.
AND, i definitely think that the whole "build water wells" thing is admirable, and necessary.
